2007 Season in review

We started off our season with a social event. We had"Nytro Night." Our wonderful sponsor, Nytro, in Encinitas on PCH, stayed open for us Friday March 23rd from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Those who came by got great deals on their merchandise. We had a few refreshments. Thanks to Sonja and the Nytro employees who stayed late to accomodate us.

Our first racing event was the San Diego Mud Run. This event was Sunday March 24th. We had a large showing. A super fun (and dirty) time was had by all. Russ's team (Ian Reilly, Ali Webb and Megan Addy) took 2nd place in the Coed division.

Congrats to Mary Murphy, Deb Hoffman and others who kicked butt at the Ford Ironman 70.3 ("Ralph's") Saturday, March 31. Deb had one of her best races ever. She was 8th in her age group and had the 4th fastest bike split in her age group. All that off-season riding sure paid off, eh Deb?! Keep up the great work.

Great job to Megan Martin, Ali Webb and Ian Reilly (three of our newest teammates) who kicked butt at the Solana Beach Triathlon on Sunday July 29.

Vineman up in beautiful California wine country sure lived up to its reputation. More congratulations to Evan Vapnek, Kris Georgie and Russ Reinbolt. All turned in strong performances in the grueling 70.3 distance event.

The Sharp Tri Team had another great race at the Camp Pendleton Triathlon. Kris Georgie won her age group and was the 4th overall woman!Fantastic, Kris!! You might have to quit your real job! Ian Reilly was 20th in his age group. This was only his 2nd triathlon. Look out for him in future races.

We had a big showing at San Diego International Tri back in late June.  Pictures will be posted soon. Congrats to Kris Georgie who finished 4th and to Russ who finished 6th. We enjoyed some fun comeradie afterwards. Stay tuned for pictures.
    Huge congrats to Debbie Hoffman. She kicked bootie at Couer d'Alene IRONMAN. She was 11th in her a.g. and she had the 3rd fasted bike split in her a.g. Her overall time as an amazing 11:47!! We are so impressed Debster!  

Amanda S. sustained a horrible accident back in August when a boulder, yes a boulder, fell on her while she was rockclimbing up in Alaska. She sustained fractures of her pelvis, wrist and hand. As a result of her amazing strength, determination and commitment to rehabilitation, she was able to finish the Mission Bay Triathlon. Our congratulations and respect go to you Amanda. Keep healing and fighting!!

Congratulations to all Sharp Tri Team members who competed in the Mission Bay Triathlon. Again, Kris Georgie excelled by finishing third in her age group. Special congrats to new members who completed their first triathlon ever-Julie Tople (her two bum knees and all!) and Hugo Barranco. We're so proud of you guys! When is your next race?! Others who did the race were Heather Wyma, Mary Murphy, Ken and Michelle Doan, Hany Yassin, Amanda Schuk, Joe, Russ Reinbolt.

Special thanks to Heather for hosting a great party after the race at her house in Pacific Beach. The hospitality and comeradie were awesome.
